About Me

As you may know by now, my name is Brian Tanner. I am a highly motivated web designer and developer with a great passion for what I do, what I want to do, and where I want to be in the future. I am quick to adapt to new technologies with a high capacity to learn. In my free time, I am often reading books, blogs, articles, tutorials and taking part in discussions related to web design, development, and internet marketing.

I am currently working in Raleigh, NC as a Web Developer at BNR Marketing. My knowledge of web and graphic design dates back to early 2003. At that time, (when the web consisted of tables and overly dramatic photoshop), web and graphic design to me was a hobby that often turned a little cash as a freelance designer/developer. Through years of self teaching and various educational courses and training, I have developed the skillset I have today. Those skills include a variety of languages such as HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, and MySQL. I am familiar with a wide variety of frameworks, libraries, software, operating systems and environments. I have extensive knowledge of Windows, Linux, Mac, Adobe/Macromedia Software, FTP, CPanel, Plesk, WHM, and various other technologies and software. Other than simply knowing these technologies, I also have a good understanding of the current web standards and the seperation of presentation from design. I currently have a growing knowledge of ASP/ASP.NET, Cold Fusion, and MS SQL.

I am currently finishing up my Associates in IT/Web Design at ECPI College of Technology in Raleigh, NC. I began my education at ECPI in the IT/Networking and Security Management major in early 2007 and soon changed majors to web design when I realized where I wanted to take my career. Although this may have set me back a few months, I do believe that what I learned during that time will benefit me in the long run. Aside from web and graphic design, I have a broad range of technical skills and knowledge including pc hardware and software troubleshooting, home and office networking, some light enterprise networking, web server installation, setup, management, and maintinance, and some computer programming. My computer programming knowledges ranges from mid level Visual Basic and C# which I intend to continue pursuing.

If you have taken the time to read all of this, then I must say, thank you for your interest.
